About
The Ventanilla de Salud (VDS) program was created by the Mexican Secretary of Health, the Foreign Affairs Ministry, and the Institute for Mexicans Abroad. It operates in all 50 Mexican Consulates in the United States, with local community organizations running the program. In Salt Lake City, the Alliance Community Services serves as the Ventanilla de Salud’s fiscal agency. The program aims to improve the physical and mental health of Latinxs living in Utah and western Wyoming by working with partners throughout the state to connect individuals with the necessary services.
The program offers free screenings for
Blood sugar
Blood pressure
Body mass index
cholesterol (when available).
Clients can also be connected with primary care providers, specialists, behavioral health services, housing, immigration services, immigrant rights, workers’ safety, and occupational health.
The Ventanilla de Salud is located inside the Consulate of Mexico in Salt Lake City, open to the public from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm Monday through Friday, and can be contacted through Yeimi Chavez’s email.
