ALLIANCE COMMUNITY SERVICES LAUNCHES NEW DACA FUND. For Immediate Release JAN. 9th, 2021 Salt Lake Nonprofit creates fund for future DACA applicants

SALT LAKE CITY ,Utah- Alliance Community Services (ACS) is now helping with new applications for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA) that protects some young immigrants from deportation. ACS has also created a fund to help with the legal and application fees associated with DACA.

“With the recent decision of the courts, we are excited and ready to help as many Dreamers with the application process, We created this fund to help Dreamers who may be financially struggling but want to apply for DACA.” – Spokesperson from ACS

The application fee for DACA is 495$ every two years. With this fund ACS’s hope is to break down financial barriers that many Dreamers may have when it comes to applying for DACA.

DACA, which was started in 2012 during the Obama administration, allows certain young immigrants who were brought to the country as children to legally work and protects them from deportation. Daca was challenged by the Trump administration and left many young immigrants in limbo. Late last year U.S. District Judge Nicholas Garaufis ordered the Trump administration to accept new applications for DACA. Many Latinx Nonprofits like ACS are now helping future Dreamers with their application process.
