Welcome to our March newsletter! As we transition from the winter months into the vibrant days of spring, let’s take a moment to reflect on the exciting activities and initiatives our team has been busy with. Over the past couple of months, we’ve been diligently working on various fronts, from initiating our new outreach efforts for Utahs new State CHIP program to planning our mobile mammogram buses and coordinating efforts for Ventanilla de Salud— its a busy season for ACS!

The Importance of Health Insurance

This month, we want to stress how important health insurance is, especially for the Latino community in Utah. We get that figuring out health coverage can be tough, but don’t worry, we’re here to help you through it. Health insurance isn’t just about money—it’s about making sure you can afford healthcare when you need it.

For Latinos in Utah, getting health insurance is super important. Many face challenges like language barriers and not knowing about available resources, which can make it hard to get the care they need. But here’s the good news: Alliance Community Services is here to support you every step of the way.

If you’re worried about affording health insurance, we can help you apply for state and federal programs that offer free or low-cost coverage based on your income and family size. These programs can provide the financial assistance you need to access essential healthcare services without breaking the bank.

And if you don’t qualify for these programs, don’t worry—we’ve still got options for you. We can direct you to private insurance companies where you can create a personalized plan that fits your needs and budget. Whether you qualify for public assistance or need to explore private insurance options, we’re here to make sure you get the coverage you deserve.

So if you’re ready to take control of your health and well-being, let us help you navigate the world of health insurance. We’ll work with you to find the best solution for your unique situation, so you can focus on staying healthy and taking care of yourself and your loved ones. Below is a quick rundown of the different types of free or low-cost health insurance options for Utahns.

  • Medicaid: A state and federally-funded program that provides free or low-cost health coverage to eligible individuals and families with limited income and resources.
  • CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program): A program that offers low-cost health coverage for children in families that earn too much to qualify for Medicaid but cannot afford private insurance.
  • State CHIP: A new program in Utah designed to provide health insurance to immigrant children from working families who may not qualify for traditional CHIP or Medicaid due to citizenship status.

It’s important to note that State CHIP aims to alleviate any concerns regarding immigration status. Enrollment in State CHIP does not impact immigration or citizenship status, and information will not be reported to immigration authorities.
