Planes de salud de la Universidad de Utah

Health care can be complex and overwhelming for many people, but University of Utah Health Plans is dedicated to simplifying this process. They provide resources and tools for the community to better understand the health system, from how to access care to how to maximize your insurance benefits.

With a focus on prevention and wellness, University of Utah Health Plans promotes the health and quality of life of its members. Their commitment to healthcare excellence and patient-centered care makes them an invaluable partner for individuals and families in Utah.

Assistance for health insurance through CHIP and Medicaid: We assist with the application and guide you through the entire eligibleity process, from filling out forms, understanding benefits and obligations, to renewing and maintaining your coverage, as well as navigating the healthcare system.

Navigation for early detection of Breast and Cervical Cancer: We provide essential support, including interpretation and access to free or low-cost vouchers, to ensure that women receive the necessary care and screenings.

Cancer Survivors Support Group “Triunfadoras“: The only Spanish-language support group for cancer survivors in Utah. We offer emotional support, education, and recreational activities that contribute to your well-being.

Ventanilla De Salud: Located within the Consulate of Mexico, this program connects the Hispanic community with various services through partner agencies. It also offers free basic health screenings such as blood sugar, blood pressure, fatty liver disease, body mass index, and blood oxygen levels.

COVID-19: This program provides education, navigation, and access to community services, such as free at-home covid testing, access to flu and COVID-19 vaccines, rental assistance, food banks, mental health services, and more.

Team Highlight:

Gabriela Portugal stands out for her exceptional work and dedication. As director of the cancer prevention program and leader of the only Spanish-language breast cancer support group, Triunfadoras, she has deeply impacted the community. During her more than four years with the organization, she has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the well-being of those facing this disease, providing invaluable support and educational resources that strengthen women and their families throughout the process.

Gaby mentions, “helping the Hispanic community through the Triunfadoras support group is very satisfying, supporting women in the cancer process and providing educational resources makes their entire families stronger.”
