BURNING SISSY VALLEY

Hang out, play games, dance, and Shop with the QPOC of Utah. Burning Sissy Valley is free a 1-day event with workshops, a local market, free clothes swap, and a dance party. If you’ve been wanting to connect with other people of color who are LGBTQ+, this event is for you. Follow us on IG @thabsve for updates. Day Schedule

3 PM- Doors Open, QPOC Shop, Thrift Swap, and Resource Center available.

4-4:45- Workshops A, B, C

5-5:45- Workshops D, E, F,

6 PM- Free Food Provided to all attendees

7:30- Dance Party with local performers

There will be 6 workshops led by Queer people of color about our experiences and knowledge. An opportunity to have fun, heal and gather information spaces just for LGBTQ+ people of color.

 

All Day Activities

• QPOC Shop: A Market of local artists and entrepreneurs selling their work and goods

• Thrift Swap: An area for anyone to come to take and give clothes for free. We’ll be taking donations on the day of the event

• Resource Center: a collection of local orgs that support Queer People of Color

• Chill Arena: An inside area dedicated to relaxing, playing games, and talking

 

FAQs:

Can white and/or straight people attend? This event is for people who are both LGBT+ and non-white. People who do not fit those descriptions won’t be turned away, but are also encouraged not to come.

Can people under 21 attend? Yes! we’re wanting folks of all generations to attend. There will be explicit language, music, topics discussed at this event.

Will alcohol be served? No alcohol will not be served. We will provide food, snacks, and water. Vegan options will be available.

How Can I be a vendor in the QPOC shop or perform at this event? We’d love to have you. Any kind of performer or vendor we’re fine with.
