DACA is a program, announced on June 12, 2012 by President Barack Obama that protects eligible applicants from deportation and gives them work authorization for a renewal period of 2 years. It is important to note that DACA provides lawful presence but it does not provide lawful status. DACA is a program fought for and won by undocumented immigrants.
Who qualifies
AGE
You may qualify for DACA if you check off all these requirements: you are at least 15 years old at the time of submitting your request. Moved to the US before you turned 16 years old.
TIME PERIOD
Were physically present in the United States on June 15, 2012. Are physically present in the United States at the time of applying for DACA. You were living undocumented on June 15, 2012 (no lawful status)
EDUCATION
if you are currently in school; or Graduated from a public or private HS; or Secondary school; or Obtained a GED; or An honorably discharged veteran of the Coast Guard or Armed Forces of the United States
